On September 1, 2001, Jim Ponder started Ponder Environmental Services in Benicia, unsuspecting that America would be under attack ten days later. Following the tragic events on 9/11, Jim relied on his vision and determination to build a customer-focused environmental services business in the San Francisco Bay Area. Jim also used his deep knowledge of the industry, gained at local as well as regional environmental companies, to provide a higher level of customer service.
Initially, Jim utilized subcontractors to complete his growing workload and range of services. In 2006, Jim hired his first employee, purchased additional equipment, and added administrative and logistics support. Over the next decade, Ponder Environmental Services experienced continued and significant growth in the Bay Area market and beyond, opening a Bakersfield office in 2015 and a Sacramento office in 2019.
Jim recently shared, “I am driven to provide great customer service with our team of qualified, well-trained professionals. We are proud to employ good people that help protect the environment while maintaining the highest level of safety. We like that every day is different – no two projects are the same, each requiring a different approach to solving the challenge in a safe and efficient way.” Looking forward, Ponder will continue to expand our turnkey services, including Frac Tanks, Mix Tanks and Roll-Off Bins, each designed to provide customers with a service-driven, one-stop supplier.
